delivered the opinion of the Court.

On January 7, 2003, appellant James Edwin Griffin plead guilty to the felony offense of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit theft. Appellant had filed no written pretrial motions. In accordance with a plea agreement, the trial court assessed appellant’s punishment at confinement in the institutional division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for a period of ten years.
