lain Defendant’s previous appeal, this court described the procedural history of the case:

On December 17, 2013, Defendant Danial Lewayne Lafleur was charged by a bill of information with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, a violation of La.R.S. 14:37.4. The State filed a “Motion for Appointment of Sanity Commission,” and on September 10, 2014, the trial court ordered a sanity commission to determine whether Defendant was competent to assist in his own defense. On July 10, 2015, a sanity commission hearing was held regarding Defendant’s capacity to proceed to trial.…
