The defendant, Kim Brant, was charged by uniform traffic citation on September 16,1978, with driving while intoxicated in violation of section 11 — 501(a) of the Illinois Vehicle Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 95½, par. 11 — 501(a)) and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in violation of section 11 — 601(a) of the Illinois Vehicle Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 95½, par. 11 — 601(a)). Following a jury trial, defendant was found guilty of both charges and fined $250 for the combined offenses.
