¶1 This is a case of first impression deciding whether an insurable interest in the life of another must continue to exist after the making of an insurance contract to entitle the named beneficiaries to policy proceeds upon the death of the insured. We hold that former RCW 48-*393.18.030 (1992) codifies the majority common law rule that termination of a valid insurable interest after the making of the policy does not affect a beneficiary’s right to receive policy proceeds. There being no basis to deny policy proceeds to the named beneficiaries in this case, we reverse.
