The plaintiff, in 1890, being the owner of the tract of land in Forsyth county, which is the sulject of this action, entered into an agreement in writing with the defendant, Thomas, to exchange the land for a tract belonging to Thomas in Henry county, Va., the plaintiff to pay about $2,000 to boot in the exchange, and each party to clear his respective tract cf all incumbrances.
