In 1897, Curtis & Wheeler were shoe manufacturers in the city of Rochester. Joseph E. Taylor was their traveling salesman, and, in the conduct of their business, took with him a sample trunk with *405trays filled with shoes of his employers, besides a quantity of his. own wearing apparel. The trunk was about three feet in length,, two feet in width and nearly three feet in height.
