This is an original proceeding in mandamus. The relators are citizens, freeholders and taxpayers of Jackson County, and owners and operators of motor vehicles upon which they regularly pay the registration fees and gasoline tax imposed by ther laws of 'this State (Secs. 7762, 7794, R. S. 1929). They sue on behalf of themselves and all taxpayers similarly situated. The object of the proceeding is’to compel the respondent, the State Highway Commission, to take cognizance of and pass upon a petition filed before it by the relators, petitioning for the widening and improving of United States…
