—In an action to recover damages for personal injuries, etc., the defendants appeal from an order of the Supreme Court, Westchester County (Meehan, J.), entered April 10, 1985, which denied their motion to dismiss the action and sua sponte directed them to accept the untimely service of the complaint and to serve an answer within 20 days after service upon them of a copy of the order appealed from, with notice of entry.

Order modified, as a matter of discretion, by adding thereto a provision directing the plaintiffs’ attorneys to personally pay the defendants $500. As so modified, order…
