WILLIAM J. BOYCE, Justice.

Appellant Nelson Romero was indicted for the third-degree felony of possessing a deadly weapon in a penal institution. See Tex. Penal Code Ann. § 46.10 (Vernon 2003). A jury found him guilty as charged *83in the indictment and assessed an enhanced punishment of imprisonment for 30 years. See Tex. Penal Code Ann. § 12.42(d) (Vernon 2003). We affirm.

BACKGROUND
