This is an appeal by the defendant from a judgment for the plaintiff, entered on the verdict of a jury in an action by a seaman to recover damages for an unlawful discharge. The appellant raises only two points: (1) that the verdict was “manifestly against the weight of the evidence”; and (2) that the court erred in telling the jury that a written contract between the parties that did not conform to § 574 of Title 46 U.S.C.A. constituted a legal contract.
