After a bench trial in the circuit court of Marion County, Sterling A. Moore (defendant) was convicted of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon (720 ILCS 5/24 — 1.1(a) (West 1996)). Defendant appealed his conviction. This court reversed and remanded for further proceedings after finding that trial counsel was ineffective for failing to file motions to quash arrest and to suppress evidence. People v.
