BENAVIDES, Circuit Judge:

This Court previously granted Petitioner Causey a Certificate of Appealability (“COA”) to determine whether limitations should bar his application for habeas corpus. Specifically, the COA directs us to decide two questions: “whether the prison mailbox rule should be used to determine the date on which Causey filed his writ application to the Louisiana Supreme Court and whether Causey is entitled to equitable tolling under the circumstances.” 1 We now write solely to answer the first COA question in the affirmative.
