The original claim, which has been settled, was a Jones Act, general maritime law, and Louisiana tort law action brought by a Penrod Drilling Corporation (Penrod) employee and his wife to recover damages for injuries sustained in the course of work on a Chevron U.S.A., Inc. (Chevron), platform situated on the outer continental shelf. Penrod and appellee Chevron were named as defendants.
