NAKAMURA, J.

Clyde Pinero was convicted of murder in the first degree and of unlawfully possessing a firearm after a jury trial in the Circuit Court of the First Circuit. He urges on appeal that the convictions must be set aside because the trial court committed a host of errors that denied him a fair trial. We conclude from a review of the record that the court committed prejudicial error when it (1) permitted testimony about a previous encounter between the defendant and a police officer in which the defendant allegedly attempted to wrest a gun from the officer’s hand;…
