J. W. N. Redwine instituted this action i,n the district court of Pittsburg county against J. W. Cummins and A. A. Cravens to recover $500 alleged to he duel upon a promissory note executed by the defendants in favor of the plaintiff on August 22, 1917, and for the foreclosure of a mortgage given on the same date to secure thel payment of said note. The defense of the defendants in substance was that the note was executed by the defendants in consideration of an agreement on the part of the plaintiff to represent the defendants upon a criminal charge for having resisted the draft…
