— Weiss, J.

Defendant, 14 years of age, waived indictment and pleaded guilty to a superior court information charging him with robbery in the first degree, stemming from his participation along with five older boys in an armed robbery of a taxicab driver on February 24,1983. He was sentenced to a term of 1% to 5 years’ imprisonment in the custody of the Division for Youth, and was released on parole October 24, 1984. On this appeal, defendant urges that the trial court failed to consider his eligibility for youthful offender treatment (see, CPL 720.10 [2], as amended by L 1979, ch 411, § 14).…
