Defendant, Michael Thompson, was charged with two counts of first degree murder. Jamal Harmon, Eugene Wiseman, and Craig Newton were also charged by the same indictment with first degree murder but were not tried with defendant. Following a jury trial, defendant was found guilty of first degree murder under an accountability and transferred intent theory. Defendant filed a timely motion for a new trial on July 24, 1997, and an amended motion for a new trial on July 25, 1997. Both were denied.
