Five years later the Supreme Court again refused to rule on the applicability of the full faith and credit .clause to custody decrees in Kovacs v. Brewer, 356 U. S. 604, 78 S. Ct. 963, 2 L. Ed. 2d 1008 (1958). A New York divorce decree awarded custody of a minor child to her grandfather. In accordance with the decree the- child went to live with him in North Carolina. The child’s mother obtained a custody order after a contested proceeding in New York but did not seek to enforce the order .in North Carolina until a year later.
