This was an action brought for the purpose of compelling the specific performance of a contract for the sale of land. According to the allegations of the petition, the defendants, who were the owners óf a city lot upon which was situated a building, entered into a written agreement to sell the same to the plaintiff for the sum of $16,000, of which $5 was paid when the writing was signed and the balance was to be paid when the vendee should satisfy himself that the vendors’ title to the property was good.
