This is a direct appeal from a jury verdict wherein defendant Charles R. Coop was found guilty of second degree murder (K.S.A. 21-3402). Defendant alleges the trial court erred (1) in not instructing the jury on the lesser included offense of voluntary manslaughter; (2) in allowing the prosecutor to *303question the defendant concerning a prior criminal offense; and (3) in failing to suppress the confession made by the defendant to Detective Oakley.
