Respondent, Allan M. Katz, was convicted in federal court on one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371. The criminal activity consisted of an insurance fraud scheme that respondent and a New Orleans physician concocted from 1985 through 1991 and that resulted in the improper payment by insurance companies and other defendants of $268,000 in settlement proceeds.
