Plaintiff Carol Ann Mermigis was injured when struck by a door closer on the premises of her employer, Des Moines General Hospital. Defendant Servicemaster 1 was employed at the time to manage the maintenance operations of the hospital’s physical plant. Plaintiffs action, alleging her injuries were due to defendant’s negligence in maintaining the hospital premises, was submitted to a jury which returned a verdict in her favor.
