Mamie Jackson, the appellant, and R. Lee Jackson, the appellee, were married in 1935; they separated in 1962 and appellee filed suit for divorce from his wife. She filed an answer and counterclaim seeking a divorce and alimony from him. Although the parties remained separated except for a brief attempt at reconciliation, the divorce action remained dormant until 1967 when present counsel entered the case.
