Appellant, James Roy Massengale, Jr., appeals his conviction of voluntary manslaughter and sentence.

In the early morning of September 12, 1987, appellant’s father, James Massengale, Sr., called the Dade County Sheriff’s Office and reported a homicide on his property. Deputy James White was dispatched to the scene. Deputy White went to the home of James Massengale, Sr., and knocked on the door.
