I would reverse, not because I disagree with the majority’s basic assumption that an unmarried cohabitant will not suffer the same *116emotional distress at the tragic death of her companion that she would have suffered if she were married to the victim of a fatal accident, but because I perceive no sufficiently limiting principle in the majority’s standard for deciding who qualifies as an intimate family member.
