Tricia McCannon and David Dobbs (plaintiffs) filed this action against Thomas I. Puett, d/b/a Mews Development Company (defendant) seeking a declaration of their rights as tenants under a lease agreement on real property owned by defendant. Defendant answered, denying the material allegations of the complaint and counterclaimed seeking a declaration of his rights as landlord under the lease agreement.
