Appellant, Charles Michelson, commenced suit in the municipal court of Chicago against the Judson Freight Forwarding Company, the Southern Pacific Railroad Company and the Union Pacific Railroad Company to recover for the loss of certain goods and household effects owned by him and which had been shipped from Oakland, California, to Chicago, Illinois, and which were destroyed by fire in transit at Sidney, Nebraska, being transported by the Union Pacific Railroad Company. Afterwards, by stipulation, the Judson Freight Forwarding Company and the Southern Pacific Railroad Company were dismissed…
