Appellant was found guilty of the charge of murder in the first degree for shooting and killing his mother-in-law, Mary Martinka, in Adair County, and his punishment was assessed at imprisonment in the State Penitentiary for life. His motion for a new trial having been overruled and final judgment rendered in accordance with the verdict, he took an appeal. We have not had the aid of a brief on behalf of appellant, assigning errors of the trial court. But no assignment of errors is necessary in an appeal in a criminal case (Sec. 3760, Vol. 4, Stat. Ann.), and it is our statutory duty to render…
