Plaintiff Edwin C. Froehlich filed a claim on behalf of the estate of Paul Edwards. As respondents in discovery, pursuant to section 2 — 402 of the Code of Civil Procedure (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 110, par. 2 — 402), he named Joseph C.M. Sheehan; Joseph C.M. Sheehan, M.D., S.C., Sheehan’s service corporation (collectively, the Sheehan defendants); and a third person. Plaintiff timely moved for leave to file an amended complaint to convert all the respondents in discovery into defendants.
