John Dudjak became a member of defendant beneficial society (hereinafter referred to as the Union) in 1916. It is conceded that at his death, on February 14, 1938, $1,000 was payable to plaintiff, the beneficiary named in his membership certificate, if he then was a member of the Union in good standing. He was summarily removed from membership in the Union on February 2, 1934 for non-payment of dues. A verdict was directed for defendant and judgment entered thereon.
