After trial by jury defendant, Jessie Lewis, was found guilty of three counts of aggravated battery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 12 — 4) and two counts of armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 33A — 2). He was sentenced to concurrent terms of six years for each armed violence conviction and to two years for one count of aggravated battery.
