In 1896 the Eobfert Mitchell Furniture Company and the Geo. F. Otte Company filed suits in the Kenton Circuit Court against L. S. Hatch, wherein they sought to recover' of 'him certain moneys which they *778alleged to be due them for household goods sold to him. Each caused a general order of attachment to be issued and placed in the hands of the sheriff, John O’Donnell. The sheriff, before executing the order of attachment, demanded an indemnifying bond as provided for by section 211 of the Code, and the following bond was thereupon given:
