Gabe Tarr, a past director of the HRC Foundation, Inc. (Foundation), 1 sued Glenn Stelly, the president of the Foundation, individually, for defamation. Tarr’s suit alleged that removal of his name as a board member for “misdirecting] significant funds from the Foundation” “served to effectively defame him and damage his reputation.” Stelly, a Louisiana resident, challenged the trial court’s personal jurisdiction by filing a special appearance.
