OPINION

DAVIS, Judge:

{1 Defendant Chamnap In appeals from his judgment of conviction for possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, in violation of Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-503(8)(a)(1) (Supp.1997). 1 Defendant argues that he was not a "restricted person" as defined in section 76-10-508(8)(a)(1) because, although he had pleaded guilty to a prior felony at the time of this offense, he had not been sentenced on that prior felony, and thus, he had not yet "been convicted of any felony offense."
