J. CURTISS BROWN, Chief Justice.

Mohammad Saeed, appellee, brought suit against Soerono Haryanto, appellant, alleging false imprisonment, negligence, gross negligence, a terroristic threat, assault, reckless conduct, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The jury found for ap-pellee on all causes of actions and awarded him total damages of $8,000,000.00 including $1,000,000.00 in actual damages and $2,000,-000.00 in punitive damages.
