R. P. Townsend on February 4, 1885, took out a policy of insurance upon his life for $10,000. It was a 10-payment life policy, by which, in consideration of the annual payment in advance by the insured, R. P. Townsend, of $619.20 to the insurer, the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company of Hartford, Conn., the latter undertook to pay to the beneficiaries named in the policy, upon the death of the insured, the sum of $10,000.
