I respectfully dissent from the result reached by the majority in this case. I agree with the recitation of the general principles that govern the determination of the appropriate amount of attorney fees to be awarded pursuant to Civil Code section 1717.1 I agree that “[t]he trial court has broad discretion to determine the amount of a reasonable fee, and the award of such fees is governed by equitable principles. (PLCM Group, *779Inc. v. Drexler (2000) 22 Cal.4th 1084, 1094-1095 [95 Cal.Rptr.2d 198, 997 P.2d 511] (PLCM).)” (Maj. opn., ante, at p. 774.) I further agree…
