On May 10, 2010, a grand jury indicted the defendant, Paulino Miranda, on charges of murder in the first degree, two firearms charges, armed robbery, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon. On August 31, 2015, the defendant's jury trial commenced. On September 9, 2015, the trial judge allowed the defendant's motion for required findings of not guilty as to the armed robbery and assault by means of a dangerous weapon charges, and denied the motion as to the other charges.
