POSNER, Circuit Judge.
The question in this case is the power of a district court to deny one of the members of the class in a class action settlement his full proportionate share of the settlement, without giving him a trial-type hearing.
Between 1970 and 1975 the management of Cenco Incorporated conducted a massive fraud. Primarily it involved inflating the value of Cenco’s inventories. This brought about an artificial increase in the price of Cenco stock, followed by a collapse after the fraud was unmasked.
