Mrs. Bessie Lee Carter, the respondent herein, brought this action against the appellants, Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company and its engineer, W. B. Newsome, to recover damages for personal injuries alleged to have been sustained by her by reason of a crossing collision which occurred on September 13, 1938, in the town of Ehrhardt.
