The plaintiff, an officer in the U. S. Army, seeks to recover additional allowances in the amount of $5,233.80, upon the ground that his mother was dependent upon him for her chief support, within the meaning of the statutes relating to such allowances. The period of the claim is from December 8, 1941, to November 30, 1945. From the beginning of the period of plaintiff’s claim for the additional allowances to June 16, 1942, the Act of June 10, 1922 (42 Stat. 625), was the statute applicable to such allowances.
