The defendant, the Granite State Provident Association, is a loan and building company, incorporated under the laws of the State of New Hampshire. For the purpose of enabling it to do business in this State, under the provisions of the Banking Law (Laws of 1892, ■chap. 689), the association, about July 1, 1892, deposited with the ■Superintendent of the Banking Department of this State the sum •of $100,000 for the protection of the creditors and depositors of the corporation.
