MEMORANDUM OF DECISION
EUGENE R. WEDOFF, Bankruptcy Judge.
This Chapter 11 case is before the court on the motion of the debtor in possession to pay a $10,000 postpetition retainer to its counsel, Altheimer & Gray. The only funds available to pay the requested retainer are cash collateral, which can be used only if the interest of the creditor in the debtor’s property is adequately protected. As discussed below, the interest of a secured creditor, for purposes of adequate protection, should be measured as of the beginning of the case.
