LAFFITTE, District Judge.

Plaintiff appellant Josefa Dopico Fernán-dez was knocked to the ground just outside defendant appellee’s retail business establishment. The jury found appellee liable for $3,906 in medical expenses incurred by Ms. Dopico Fernández and $144,740 in loss of income. The trial judge entered a judgment notwithstanding the verdict, finding as a matter of law that appellee had no duty to secure the safety of persons outside its store. Appellant challenges the district judge’s order, as well as the jury’s refusal to award her damages for past and future pain and suffering.…
