BACKGROUND
Chemical Leaman Corporation was formed in 1977 as a holding company to hold the stock of Chemical Leaman Tank Lines Inc. and several smaller entities. The family of Samuel and Eunice H. Niness owned a substantial number of shares of CLC stock, which were ultimately deeded to several Niness family trusts.
