On April 6] 1926, appellant, in the court below, was indicted for murder in the first degree. Immediately upon the return of the indictment, and before the grand jury had time to disperse, the sheriff of Knox county brought appellant into open court and the charge was read to him by the prosecuting attorney. The court then requested him to plead, whereupon he answered that he was guilty. The next day, April 7, the court, upon the prisoner’s plea, adjudged him guilty of murder in the first degree and that he suffer death.
