Appellant was indicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child. 1 In January 2008, a jury convicted appellant and assessed punishment at fifty years in prison. On direct appeal, the court of appeals reversed appellant’s conviction, based on a finding of ineffective assistance of counsel, and remanded the case to the trial court for further proceedings. 2 We granted the state’s petition for discretionary review to determine whether the court of appeals erred in reversing the trial court on grounds of…
