Defendants move this court for an order, pursuant to CPLR 3211 (a) (1) and (7), dismissing the complaint against each of them. Plaintiff opposes the requested relief.

The complaint alleges one cause of action for defamation and one cause of action for intentional infliction of emotional distress; yet, plaintiff concedes in his opposition brief that the cause of action alleging intentional infliction of emotional distress must be dismissed as duplicative of the defamation allegation.
