SPEER, Justice.

This is a suit instituted in the district court of Zapata county, Tex., by Lucrecia Uribe, hereinafter called plaintiff, against Manuel F. Gutierrez, hereinafter called defendant, for damages growing out of an alleged breach of promise to marry. Judgment for $1,500 was rendered for plaintiff.

Plaintiff alleged that in August, 1930, she and defendant mutually agreed to marry each other; that no definite time was at that time set for the consummation of the agreement, hut that permission of plaintiffs parents was obtained to permit them to go out to public gatherings together, and…
