MARBLEY, District Judge.

Plaintiffs-appellants Martin Nolan (“Martin”) and his father, Nathaniel Nolan (“Mr. Nolan”) (collectively “Nolans”) brought a civil rights action against Martin’s high school basketball coaches, superintendent, principal, and the Memphis City Schools alleging that defendants violated Martin’s substantive due process rights and Tennessee state law by using excessive corporal punishment against him while he played for the Hamilton High School basketball team.
